As much as I hate people eating popcorns at the cinema, I love to do so at home. I mean, at home we are only two people to do so instead of the whole crowd in a cinema. Imagine that, you’re trying to watch a movie, to understand it *, and there are over 100 people around you eating popcorn… annoying!
And anyway, it’s way better and home. And so cheaper!!! For 3 pln, I have a whole kilogram of popcorn kernels at the shop, and at the cinema, for 3 pln, you would have just nothing!
*: I live in Poland, at the cinema, all movies are in original language, only cartoons are dubbed. But the subtitles are in Polish, as a French, English being not my native language, I really have to concentrate to understand everything, and when it’s too noisy around me, it’s difficult.
Garlic & Chives Popcorn
For 2 Hungry People
Preparation time: 2 minutes
Cooking time: 5-6 minutes

Heat the oil in a very big saucepan on medium-high heat. Yeah, don’t forget that it’s popping, and even one layer of popcorn kernels will fill a big saucepan.
Then, put few popcorn kernels (3-4) into the oil and cover the pan. When they pop, add salt, the split garlic cloves and the rest of the popcorn in one single even layer. Not too much as you will have some surprises otherwise… Cover, remove from heat and wait about 30 seconds, like that the temperature of the kernels will be near-pooping state and when you will put the saucepan back on the heat, normally, they should all pop at the same time… Normally…
So put that saucepan back on the heat, wait a moment, and they should pop quite soon, theoretically at the same time. If not, it shouldn’t take more than 30 seconds to have them all popped. While they pop, it’s always a good idea to shake the saucepan.
Once the “pops” slow down, remove form heat and transfer the popcorns into a big salad bowl. Remove the split garlic, add in the crushed one, the chopped chives, and toss very well. You can add butter if you like. Sometimes we do. In this case take the very hot saucepan to melt it before mixing it into the popcorns.

J’utilise une machine car j’avais tendance à faire brûler mon maïs…
