CSIO*** Sopot

I never liked this sport on TV. Always found it kind of boring.

So when CSIO comes to Sopot, I wondered if it was worth going there.

Beside the 2 first days with bad weather, I can say that it was very entertaining. Something you don’t realize on TV, it’s the strength of the horses. You can literally feel it while they run near you. That’s why it’s impressive.

I loved it.

It was held from the 9th to the 12th of June. In Sopot. I invite you to visit the official website of this event: http://en.csio.sopot.pl/

I went there 3 times. The first day was just horrible, heavy rain. Impossible to take any pictures with my camera. It’s supposed to be weather proof, but I don’t think it would have survived that pouring rain!

The second day was better. No rain, just cloudy. Managed to take pictures. It’s an easy sport. You know what’s going to happen, just have to find the good spots and pull the trigger. Job done.

I went back the last morning, the weather was exceptional, very sunny and hot. As it was on Sunday, lots of people attended the event. It was highly entertaining. It was the speed event. Impressive.

Horses were taking such angles in order to turn around and jump… Wow. Beautiful.

I just need a 70-200. My EF-S 60mm is not for taking sport pictures. I think it’s doing a good job though, but I missed lots of photos because I was too far. Could just work on 2 spots, others were too distant.

I’m still not going to watch that sport on TV, but next time there is such an event in Sopot, I will definitively go. And for the next CSIO, I will even stay for the whole 4 days.

Even if it’s during EURO 2012, which is taking place in Gdańsk. Soccer? You’re out of your mind…

Wait and see. I need a change of life.
